Workplace Pension Re-Enrolment

Re-enrolment and Re-declaration Every three years you must put qualifying employees who have left your workplace pension scheme back into it. This involves re-assessing employees who have opted out of the workplace pension scheme and putting them back into it if they are eligible. Who is Eligible? To qualify to be put back into your workplace pension scheme an employee needs to meet certain criteria. You must put employees into your pension scheme and you must both pay into it if you have staff who are:

  • aged between 22 and up to the state pension age
  • and they earn over £10,000 per annum, £833 per month or £192 per week.
What Next? You need to write to the employees that have been put back into the workplace pension letting them know that they have been re-enrolled in the scheme. This needs to be done within six weeks of the third anniversary of your staging date. The employee then has the right to opt out of the pension scheme again or stay in it. Complete your Re-declaration of Compliance Whether you have employees to put back into your scheme or not, you need to complete a re-declaration of compliance showing that your duties have been met. This needs to be completed within five months of the third anniversary of your automatic enrolment staging date. It is your legal responsibility as an employer to make sure that the re-declaration is completed on time.   The S4B Team S4B are a team of Chartered Accountants based in Maidenhead who can take the headache out of payroll and pension obligations and run it for you.
