Some time ago,  I sent one of my team to deliver Excel training for a client. They started by observing a senior member of staff entering data into Excel.. and then reaching for a calculator to add up the figures!

Unbelievable!

Another client proudly showed me an operations report. It looked professional and visually impressive but my observation was it had been produced entirely manually. I knew it wouldn’t last because it took far too long to produce. As expected, It only lasted about 2 weeks.

There are two key lessons from these experiences:

Make sure all your staff who use Excel have received proper training. I have come across a free to use training course that businesses can use for all staff to ensure that they get that training.
