Creating Value Through Innovation
JANUS One of the ways S4B creates value is by using cutting edge technology and innovative systems. Our world beating, in-house accounting system ‘Janus’ was designed and developed by our Managing Director, John O’Mahony BSc ACA, over a 30-year period. Janus is the name of the Roman god with 2 faces and is where we get the month name of January from. One face looks to the past and one to the future. What does it do? Janus is quick and very easy to set up. It analyses the past and combines this with management input to forecast where the future lies. The starting point is the client’s trial balance. We review, check and amend this where necessary, providing feedback and training to the client. We set up the trial balance in such a way that it automatically captures much more information than is the norm. What is its output? It typically will have
- Executive Summary so that management can focus on key items

- Drill down of information to get further detail and understanding
- Drill out of yearly figures to easily obtain the monthly figures
- Comparison against budget and year end by month/year to date/year ending
