About Me
I am an ex-KPMG Chartered Accountant, having qualified in 1985. After leaving the profession, I moved into industry and spent 12 years in commercial and financial director roles, improving the financial health of each company I worked with. My employers included Kellock (the factoring and invoice discounting arm of Bank of Scotland), John Menzies plc, a subsidiary of Omnicom Inc. (one of the world’s top 100 advertising and marketing companies), and Securitas. Later, I rejoined the profession as a partner at Hurst Morrison Thomson before founding S4B.
Through S4B, I bring my company doctor and turnaround consulting skills, as well as my accounting experience, to help small and medium-sized businesses. Today, I serve as a part-time FD, commercial director, or chairman for several of our clients, offering practical, commercial advice at a board level. Additionally, I have worked in the field of venture capital, helping investors protect and maximize their investments, and orchestrating highly successful exits.
I not only do the usual historic number crunching for HMRC / Companies House compliance and tax planning, but more importantly I help business owners to plan and achieve their future goals around profits, cashflow, business value and personal wealth.
Take a look through these webpages to learn more about how I do that with my team and smart technology.
